Closed-loop systems remove oil and sludge from PCV fumes before they are directed to the engine for combustion. For best performance, a closed-loop system also generates negative crankcase pressure. Moreover, closed systems keep undesired oil vapors out of the cabin. The dipsticks fitted into the catch cans make it simple to inspect the accumulated fluid. There is no need for any cutting, drilling, or permanent alterations.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe PCV catch can kit connects the PCV valve to the intake manifold. When the intake manifold pressure is close to or greater than atmospheric pressure, the PCV \"check\" valves close, resulting in no flow through these hoses. When the engine is idle, steady state cruising, or decelerating, the PCV hoses will suffer a \"metered\" vacuum. Normally, after a high-load run, this would suck undesired crankcase vapor, unspent gasoline, and oil sludge into the intake manifold. Because Radium catch cans are pressure sealed, no inline check valve is necessary.
